July 16, 2022 | Things to Do

Summertime in Chicago truly cannot be beaten. Whether you’re new to the city or a Chi-Town native, it is clear that when the sun comes out, so do the people. And each season, it’s like recesses all summer long. We take full advantage of the weather, the ample parks, festivals, and of course the lake! Below are 4 things you’ll likely find any number of Chicagoans doing on a summer weekend.

#1 – Take a Beach Day!

One of the best parts about Chicago is the beach. With just a short walk, you can go from a busy downtown scene to the serene waters of Lake Michigan. If you are looking for a great way to enjoy the Chicago summer without breaking the bank, this is the activity for you. Pack up your cooler, grab your beach towels, and head down to one of the many beach spots along the lake. Be sure to try North Avenue Beach, Ohio Street Beach, or any of the ledge spots along the lakefront path. Between the unbeatable beach vibes and a view of the stunning downtown skyline, don’t miss out on a true Chicago summer beach day.

#2 – Catch a Baseball Game at Wrigley Field!

Another Chicago summertime must is attending a baseball game at Wrigley Field. This iconic stadium has been home to the Chicago Cubs since 1916. And it is a Chicago staple. Wrigleyville is lined with bars and restaurants perfect for watching the game if you can’t snag a ticket, or if you are looking for a great place to enjoy the post-game celebrations.
